Skolasticia Baths

These are on the north side of Curates Avenue between Trajan's Fountain and the Temple to Hadrian. The baths were three stories high and was one of the largest buildings of its kind in Ephesus. There were two entrances, one from Curates' Avenue and the other from a street on the eastern side. Both entrances opened onto the street in an "L" shape. The apsidal room had columns and niches, in one of which was a statue of Christian Scholastica, the last to have the baths restored, around 400 AD. The baths were first built in the 1st century and last restored in the 4th.
